Prior to this update I had lighttpd-1.4.42-3 and lighttpd-fastcgi-1.4.42-3 installed and they worked fine. I have never had any of the other subpackages installed. When I updated to lighttpd-1.4.43-1 and lighttpd-fastcgi-1.4.43-1 and when yum subsequently restarted lighttpd, lighttpd failed to load. The relevant lines in /var/log/messages are "(plugin.c.227) dlopen() failed for: /usr/lib64/lighttpd/mod_authn_mysql.so /usr/lib64/lighttpd/mod_authn_mysql.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" and "(server.c.915) loading plugins finally failed". I do have mod_auth enabled. Installing lighttpd-mod_authn_mysql allowed lighttpd to start again.
I'm aware of that, but as I've never used MySQL authentication, I wonder why I now need to have that subpackage installed if I only want to use basic authentication.

The lighttpd-mod_authn_mysql subpackage was created as of this release, at upstream's request, as was one for gssapi.
I'm aware of that, but as I've never used MySQL authentication, I wonder why I now need to have that subpackage installed if I only want to use basic authentication.
I've received an updated patch from upstream that should address this, I'll get a build out ASAP.
This update has been obsoleted by lighttpd-1.4.43-2.el7.
