karma

oidn-libs requires to install gcc gcc-c++ glibc-devel llvm18 in total 57 additional devel rpm packages

Bodhi is disabling automatic push to stable due to negative karma. The maintainer may push manually if they determine that the issue is not severe.

This update can be pushed to stable now if the maintainer wishes

can you go into details about details of requires ? Is this a new problem or an existing problem ?

My guess is this happened here * Tue Sep 24 2024 Luya Tshimbalanga luya@fedoraproject.org - 1:4.2.1-5 - Rebuild with hip support for oidn

And this is part hip support and is what I would expect.

User Icon gabrielo commented & provided feedback a month ago

I don't know what is hip, but I didn't expect to install compilers and development libraries on bare metal as part of an update. When I do some development, I use a virtual machine, but they can authorize the update.

If that were the case, I would migrate Blender to a virtual machine. although I think the correct thing is to ask first at https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/

https://devtalk.blender.org/t/cycles-amd-hip-device-feedback/21400 Blender's cycle+hip dramatically improves the rendering performance on machines with AMD GPU's or APU's (CPU's with integrated graphics) Blender runtime compiles its code to the GPU you choose through the system settings to run on so it needs to have a compiler.

User Icon gabrielo commented & provided feedback a month ago

I'm sorry, I don't have the technical knowledge in graphics to give an opinion. For my part, I have already excluded the update, but I imagine that many users will be surprised that they will have to install compilers and development libraries.

That is why the recommendation is to first ask what is the best step to follow at https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/
