This update has been submitted for testing by jforbes.
This update's test gating status has been changed to 'waiting'.
This update has obsoleted kernel-6.8.2-300.fc40, and has inherited its bugs and notes.
This update's test gating status has been changed to 'passed'.
Use of this kernel on my system caused frequent hangs requiring reboots, and upstream is already proposing Linux 6.8.4-rc1 with reversions of some of the recent workqueue changes; see:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable-rc.git/log/?h=linux-6.8.y https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20240403175125.754099419@linuxfoundation.org/
Regards, c.
Out of the box works, bluetooth timeout fixed, null pointer is not present in logs, monitoring for the rest
default & performance tests pass
Working fine.
Default fedora btrfs filesystem.

Works
Unfortunately, the workqueue reversions of 6.8.4 did not resolve my problem. I'm seeing logs balloon with thousands of bugs of the form:

within minutes of booting, leading to the system locking up. This is a regression from 6.8.2. Please let me know what further information I can provide to help debug.
No apparent trouble here on a Framework 13 AMD 7840U GNOME Wayland. Thermal zone info is missing, known issue with fix merged for 6.9 (and hopefully backported in a 6.8 update subsequent to this one).
I'm not seeing any problems here, regression tests are passing.
Seems fine across a number of aarch64 and Edge devices.
Working without any issues, default tests passed. Welcome back jforbes.
6.8.4 working fine for me. Fixes all the issues I had with previous 6.8 kernels. Regression test suite also passed. Welcome back jforbes!
Works for me
using FC 39, sent to wrong page
default & performance tests pass on framework 16
Works fine on my main system.
I'm about to do an f40 stable push request, jforbes says it's good to include this in that batch, so submitting.
This update has been submitted for stable by jforbes.
There is an ongoing freeze; this will be pushed to stable after the freeze is over.

Does not work with NVIDIA driver 470 from rpmfusion
https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6904 https://github.com/NVIDIA/open-gpu-kernel-modules/issues/594
Not clear if it's a kernel bug or a driver one
This broke mini LED support on my Laptop (ASUS GA402XY) when amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 is set. This worked perfectly fine with both 6.8.1 and 6.8.2. I don't know for 6.8.3 since I didn't reboot before it already upgraded to 6.8.4.
Removing amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10 results in frame drops, black screens and artifacts, so is not an option.
