Add-ons installed within terminal and listed, however, never showed within Firefox extensions page as installed.

During the "Media testcase" Firefox played the video correctly, however audio was beeping. And I couldn't hear the theme music nor the characters laughing.

Twitter and some other media playback fails, openh264 is disabled on update and seems to fail to enable afterwards. General browser functionality is working

Will try the openh264 codec, thanks.

User Icon stransky commented & provided feedback 2 years ago

Hm, openh264 works for me after update.

User Icon stransky commented & provided feedback 2 years ago

You should see openh264 on about:plugins page.

User Icon agurenko commented & provided feedback 2 years ago

It's there, but disabled for me, when I enable it and close firefox on next start it's disabled again. I've reverted to 100 and it's enabled and stays enabled by default.

User Icon stransky commented & provided feedback 2 years ago

You're right - only Mozilla provided one is used, Fedora openh264 system wide plugin is ignored.

User Icon stransky commented & provided feedback 2 years ago

I tested the update from 100 to 101 and the plugin is not changed. Looks like the change was made in some previous version. You need to go to about:config, find gmpopenh264 keys and reset them to default values. media.gmp-gmpopenh264.version needs to be system-installed. also make sure mozilla-openh264 package is installed (it's optional).

The openh264 plugin provided by Cisco no longer works for me after upgrade from Firefox 100 to 101, be it for MP4 live streaming or playback of videos taken with my smart phone.

Updating from firefox-100.0.2-1.fc36.x86_64 to firefox-101.0-1.fc36.x86_64 broke video for some web sites. Downgrading back to firefox-100.0-2.fc36.x86_64 fixes it.

Yeah I have the same problem as @norbertj...
