During the installation on one of my laptop shown lot of messages when Running scriptlet like:

hardlink: cannot link <file> to <other-file>.hardlink-temporary: File exists

And also take too long on verifying and end up I forcing it to stop.

Then I remove and reinstall the kernel 3x. But still the same problems.

After forcing to stop on verifying and since all files needed already presented on /boot I just continue to reboot it, and test it. All PASS.

Not sure, but may be I done something to my system before.

Note:

  • Installation made in system with kernel 5.14.16
  • the hardlink things pointing to currently use kernel 5.14.16, here the example:
hardlink: cannot link ./virt/lib/Makefile to /usr/src/kernels/5.14.16-301.fc35.x86_64/./virt/lib/Makefile.hardlink-temporary: File exists

Give another try to install this kernel testing.

Before installing, I delete folder /usr/src/kernels/5.14.16-301.fc35.x86_64/ and all run normal and the messages above gone.

Reboot and boot to new installed kernel 5.14.17 then test it all passed.

Check folder /usr/src/kernels/ found this:

$ ls /usr/src/kernels
5.14.15-300.fc35.x86_64  5.14.17-301.fc35.x86_64

Most likely it was my fault.

Seems to work fine on bare-metal Z77, 3770K, RX570 with UEFI. No issues to report so far and kernel regression tests both PASS.
