Early testing, installed on two systems without a problem, all seems fine here.
This update can be pushed to stable now if the maintainer wishes
When trying to use Plasma Wayland, desktop is a completely black background. I have to reboot and luckily so far everything appears to be fine with X. Since I believe the whole idea of this is to get Plasma ready to be a default, this is a big fail.
Bodhi is disabling automatic push to stable due to negative karma. The maintainer may push manually if they determine that the issue is not severe.
Created bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1897717
For me, X and wayland works without problems on my optimus system (nvidia + intel)
Small bug, - sddm that does not reappear when I log out of my session but the problem was already existing under F31, F32 - And kio-gdrive which does not work 100%. We can now create the google account but the link to gdrive in dolphin does not work.
error message: Impossible de créer le module d'entrée / sortie. klauncher a indiqué : Erreur lors du chargement de « /usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/gdrive.so ».
Generally functional, wayland working apparently well.
But... The "logout/login stuck bug" have come back ==> https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1861700
Works well on X. Maybe SDDM 0.19 will bring some improvements during login/logout (already built for f34), at least before Systemd Startup is available https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/merge_requests/47
Updated both on desktop and laptop. Works well (on X11).
Updated and works great on Wayland and X11.
Just finished install on Lenovo Laptop with AMD Processor and Radeon. Same thing... Black screen when trying to use Wayland. Those who are mentioning "works great" can you please advise what kind of CPU and Graphics card you are using. That may help debug this issue. Otherwise, we aren't going to be able to make much progress on getting this to be the default, if it can't clear AMD/Radeon.
@gbcox Intel GPU on mine. Intel 8th generation CPU with integrated graphics.
@ngompa Thanks! It appears to be limited to AMD/Radeon so hopefully it will be easy to fix. As I mentioned above X appears to work fine, but wayland not so much. Previous release (5.19.5) had cosmetic/functional issues - but was workable. This isn't.
I am using AMD/Radeon and it seems to be working for me just fine in Plasma 5.20.3 using my AMD 2700X CPU and AMD Vega64 GPU
@gbcox Are you on kernel 5.9 or 5.8? I'm on kernel 5.9.5...
So far so good. Panasonic CF-31 Mk III, Intel HD Graphics. Firefox Wayland 82.0.3 flickers a lot to the point where it's unusable, but it also happened on 5.19.5. Using kernel 5.8 at the moment.
Works fine for me on a Core i7 laptop with integrated Intel graphics on f33 with both 5.8.x and 5.9.x kernels.
The plasma-disks package to manage S.M.A.R.T. functions is not available
source: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-disks/
@ngompa - I'm on kernel 5.9.8; I tried backing out to 5.8 but it didn't make any difference.
@michaeltunnell so plasma-wayland is working fine for you?
I have the update on two machines and I am getting a black screen with wayland:
OS: Fedora 33 (Workstation Edition) x86_64 Kernel: 5.9.8-200.fc33.x86_64 Uptime: 16 hours, 10 mins Packages: 4217 (rpm), 9 (flatpak) Shell: bash 5.0.17 Resolution: 1920x1080 DE: Plasma WM: KWin Theme: Breeze [Plasma], Adwaita [GTK2/3] Icons: breeze [Plasma], breeze [GTK2/3] Terminal: konsole CPU: AMD FX-8350 (8) @ 2.490GHz GPU: AMD ATI Radeon HD 7850 / R7 265 / R9 270 1024SP Memory: 5963MiB / 32006MiB

@ngompa, @jgrulich, @rdieter, @michaeltunnell - Found the issue... it's when using 5.20 in combination with sddm ...
sddm-0.18.1-8.fc33.x86_64, sddm-themes-0.18.1-8.fc33.noarch, sddm-kcm-5.20.3-1.fc33.x86_64, sddm-breeze-5.20.3-1.fc33.noarch
Would be interesting to know if if the people who reported wayland working were using GDM or SDDM.
If I change to gdm, wayland appears to work (so far) just fine. My understanding however is that sddm is the default displaymanager for kde, so this is a bit of an issue.
Leaving: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1897717 assigned as a plasma issue, because don't who has the bug... feel free to reassign as appropriate - but obviously some coordination is needed.
I just tried with: sddm-kcm-5.20.3-1.fc33.x86_64 sddm-breeze-5.20.3-1.fc33.noarch sddm-0.19.0-1.fc33.x86_64
Same issue, black screen.
With Breeze GTK theme no close/maximize buttons on firefox window if tabs placed in window title (in 5.19 buttons was there). But window can be closed after clicking on place where close button should be. With Default GTK theme all buttons are shown.

Works great on Lenovo P1 gen2 w/ Intel graphics, including Wayland session. On desktop with nVidia graphics (2080 Super) x.org works great, but wayland hangs the GPU and generally unstable with lots of visual glitches. Most likely nVidia's fault, not Plasma's, but still worth mentioning.

After new plasma-workspace-5.20.3-2.fc33 build: No more coredumps registered with logout/login in Plasma X session, not even kglobalaccel5. :)
However, with Plasma Wayland it continues showing a lot of crashes registered on the journal after logout/login procedure (but system is working fine anyway). Here are the coredumps showing after logout/login, only in the Plasma WAYLAND Session: TIME PID UID GID SIG COREFILE EXE Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 4859 1000 1000 6 present /usr/bin/kwalletd5 Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6476 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6482 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6471 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6553 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/kdeconnectd Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6563 1000 1000 6 present /usr/bin/kglobalaccel5 Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6480 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:43 -03 6472 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 6649 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 6647 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/org_kde_powerdevil Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 6651 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 6648 1000 1000 6 present /usr/bin/kded5 Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 6650 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 5284 1000 1000 6 present /usr/bin/akonadi_contacts_resource Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 5291 1000 1000 6 present /usr/bin/akonadi_migration_agent Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 6485 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:44 -03 5282 1000 1000 6 present /usr/bin/akonadi_birthdays_resource Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6538 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6498 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6483 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6473 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6495 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6499 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6536 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6486 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:45 -03 6481 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi Tue 2020-11-17 08:04:46 -03 6805 1000 1000 6 present /usr/libexec/drkonqi

Still black screen when using wayland in combination with SDDM and radeon. I've updated #1897717 Updates work fine when using SDDM with X11. Wayland works if GDM is used instead of SDDM.

I'm getting a black screen with radeon (RX 5600XT), but only on my secondary monitor (X and wayland - with wayland also both screens). In addition to that, sddm seems to have some issues. I got a sightly smaller, frozen sddm on my secondary screen after logging in.
Notable: sddm seems to create too many sessions? (when i checked after logging in, i had three instead of two (including the tty i logged in to check this). There were two on seat0.
Also: Breeze dark seems a bit broken. It seems to work nicely with gtk3, but qt stays light (e.g. system-settings, dolphin, ....). It shouldn't be a config issue as I deleted .kde and tried to set it up afterwards too.
Hello @jgrulich
The plasma-disks package to manage S.M.A.R.T. functions is not available
source: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-disks/
Would it be possible to propose it?
