It seems one can't simply upgrade, as the package is now more complex and geany and geany-libgeany have circular dependencies (at least, that's what I'm experiencing). Removing the previous version of geany and then trying to install the new components then starts pulling in more dependencies that didn't exist before, like gtk2-devel and libX11-devel.
This update is currently being pushed to the Fedora 22 testing updates repository.

I have the same problem as dhgutteridge. I do not see a reason why new version of geany should pull so many unrelated devel packages. It looks like a packaging bug.
I just get geany updated and geany-libgeany installed. Would it be possible to get geany build with gtk3 ? Itâs considered stable as written in the changelog, one just need --enable-gtk3 in configure part. Tested (and worked fine) on CentOS 7 for now.
I observed the same issue as lslebodn and dhgutteridge. A lot of "devel" packages should be installed.
This update has reached 7 days in testing and can be pushed to stable now if the maintainer wishes
works for me

Thanks very much for the testing and the feedback on this. The new build should fix the issue with unrelated devel packages. GTK3 builds will be available for Rawhide and F23 only - you may pull a package from Koji at your own risk.

The issue I was seeing with "devel" packages being pulled in is now resolved, thanks.
