@jmbegley if you want to stay with HPLIP, it would be great if you tried the next update - I'm not able to test properly the new update because I don't have your type of printer - I was able to verify that output file is generated after I install the plugin and print to the file printer with your driver (the job is correctly completed now), but I'm not able to verify whether the generated file ends up in successful printout.
I'll create a new update which will fallback to using proprietary plugins if you use HPLIP driver (driverless doesn't require it - if it is possible, switch to driverless or even don't install the printer at all and use temporary queue) because the files are confirmed for to be not-allowed in Fedora https://gitlab.com/fedora/legal/fedora-license-data/-/issues/273 .
You will have to download the plugin via hp-plugin-download or via hp-plugin with the next update to make the printer work with HPLIP driver.
@jmbegley to give a context for this - I found out there are files in hplip with suspicious license, which, even though the whole project is covered by open source licenses, has text which does not sound acceptable to be open source. Those files unfortunately seem to provide support for several printer models. I'll let Fedora legal people to review the license texts to have other pairs of eyes on this matter, but IMO those files will stay out from Fedora until the license changes.
I have reported this upstream as well https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/2028938 .
@jmbegley can you file an issue in bugzilla? I can't find the driver for your printer in hplip, so I will need your ppd file for trying to reproduce this.

I'll unpush this update to get a newer one.
@bojan - I'm sorry I read your comment after I had sent my new one - no worries, I'm glad it works.
@bojan I don't get this behavior at machines where I tested it (F36, F37 and rawhide) - it would be great if you added steps how you got the highlighted leftovers in the bugzilla.
For other testers - are you able to get the same behavior?
@bojan, thank you for the feedback!
Would you mind trying running your command with '-u NONE -U NONE -N -i NONE' and checking whether you see the issue?
If you do see the issue even with those parameters, would you mind filing a bugzilla where you mention which command did you use and attached the file where you experience the issue and screenshot of the issue?

There is new CVE in the latest Vim, I'm going to unpush this update (it is stuck due Beta Freeze) to get the fix into Fedora 37.
