after dnf remove alsa-plugins-pulseaudio:
$ alsamixer ALSA lib dlmisc.c:337:(snd_dlobj_cache_get0) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_ctl_pulse.so > (/lib64/alsa-lib/libasound_module_ctl_pulse.so: Cannot open shared object file: No such file or folder) mixer cannot be opened: No device or address
You have a stray config file somewhere that makes the pulse plugin the default one.
pulseaudio is still used in alsamixer instead of pipewire
Did you install pipewire-alsa ? it will remove alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.
How is it possible that some people reported no problems with previous update (pipewire-0.3.81-1.fc37) ?
I have been testing this for more than 2 weeks without problems. All my automated and manual tests worked before the release. People tested and gave karma. The bug just didn't happen for everyone and you were unlucky.
Maybe it's not rebuilt because only 0.3.75 is in updates: https://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/updates/38/x86_64/p/
rpmfusion seems to have been updated to 0.3.76 some time ago: https://pkgs.rpmfusion.org/cgit/free/pipewire-codec-aptx.git/log/

Any advice? If more info is needed, please let me know and I am happy to provide it.
Does aplay -l
list the playback device? If not, it might be a kernel driver thing, maybe you need to install the sof-firmware.
Also, try to open a new bugzilla ticket for this, it's an unrelated problem, the error message in the other bugreport is not related to devices missing.
There is a new build with a critical fix for mpv (and others)

xournalpp works for me as well. Can you paste a more complete backtrace somewhere?
It seems like this version removed the ability to change bluetooth audio codec in Gnome settings. Not sure if intentional or bug. I confirmed by downgrading package.
Not intentional. I'll check it out on monday.
This update also needs a wireplumber update to make the openal games work. Will try to update again with the wireplumber fixes later.
There are 2 bugs in this version: Notifications in pavucontrol sound strange and there is a possible infinite loop when destroying proxies with 0.4.8 wireplumber.

The gating failure here seems to be due to a CI failure trying to test the lorax build (it has an error about test environment installation failing). I'll hit the 're-trigger tests' button and see if it sorts that out.
Attempting to add pipewire to buildroot gives me "Nvr : Cannot create a buildroot override if build's test gating status is failed."
Once this update goes stable, the newer pipewire and lorax will both be in the stable updates repo and there will be no need to worry about this issue any more.
I can't seem to push this to stable..
@adamwill I guess I need to add the lorax update in buildroot, then rebuild pipewire and then add pipewire to buildroot, if I want to rebuild wireplumber?
1.0.7 is the last stable update there is and we don't don't mayor upgrades (1.2) in a stable release.
